My 2012 radio play, The British Club, a murder mystery set in Bangladesh, featuring Sanjeev Bhaskar, Samantha Bond, and the late Paul Bhattacharjee, was rebroadcast on Radio 4 yesterday, and you can catch it on listen again here for the next six days.

Mad Bees Riot in the Light

We’re nearly cast for our workshop of my play about Bangladesh, MAD BEES RIOT IN THE LIGHT. The workshop will take place at the Soho Theatre. It is being directed by Tim Stark from B29 Productions and co-produced by Imogen Butler-Cole from The What Works.

I can’t wait to see the play come alive.

Appointed to Royal Literary Fund…

I’ve just been made a fellow of the Royal Literary Fund! Next year I’ll be in residence at The University of Greenwich, working with students across the university on their writing. Very exciting.

Electronic Patient Records

With all the renewed interest in Electronic Patient Records, thought it worth reposting a link to my 2010 play for Y Touring, BREATHING COUNTRY. You can listen to the ‘radio play’ version online. It was developed in association with many of the key players on all sides of the debate and I hope a sane and human response to the (unexpectedly fascinating) issues involved.

Knowledge Stream/Digital October/ Y Touring

In association with Knowledge Stream/Digital October, we did a workshop on Stunted Trees and Stunted Bridges to a live audience in Moscow… from a basement room in Kings Cross.

The stream is available here.

Screening of Stunted Trees at Bloomsbury Science Festival

There’s a screening of my Y Touring Play Stunted Trees and Broken Bridges at the Bloomsbury Festival on October the 16th at Warner Brothers Preview Cinema. Tickets are free but book soon as they’ll go fast. See here for further details.

Wild Diamonds reading

We had a lovely reading of the first draft of my new play for Maggie Norris’s new company The Big House , who work with young people who have been through the care system. Maggie directed my last play HIS TEETH at Only Connect and I’ve always loved working with her and the amazing people she brings into her projects.   The play is called WILD DIAMONDS, and we had a grand old day in the sunshine on Hackney downs reading through the play and talking about it.

Visiting Lecturer in Playwriting, Regent’s School of Drama, Film and Media

Very pleased to say I’ve just been made a Visiting Lecturer in Playwriting at the Regent’s School of Drama, Film and Media (formerly the London School of Film, Media and Performance) at Regent’s University, in Regent’s Park. I’ll be teaching on the MA in Writing for Screen and Stage.

Playwriting Workshops at Sydenham Arts Festival

I’m going to be a guest playwright mentor at the STAGE WRITE PLAYWRITING WORKSHOPS
at the Sydenham Arts Festival, which is very exciting for me as I live in Sydenham and have always wanted to get involved locally. The three workshops (which I think are free) are led by Judy Upton, and I’ll be coming in on the Sunday to work in depth on writer’s plays. The workshops culminate in a showcase of the work at The Hob in Forest Hill on the 10th July. For tickets to the showcase/places on the workshops, please either see the website or contact the box office on 020 3659 0551.
