Working with Writers

I’ve worked extensively with writers and students of all ages and abilities. Leading workshops and classes, delivering creative projects and courses, giving talks and chairing discussions, and working one-on-one with writers on their writing.

I am currently a Lecturer in Scriptwriting at the University of East Anglia, where I teach undergraduate and postgraduate scriptwriting students, including on the MA in Creative Writing: Scriptwriting.

I have taught scriptwriting and creative writing on MA and BA courses including at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Royal Holloway, Regents University, the University of Westminster, and the University of Greenwich.

In 2005 I joined the literary department at the Birmingham REP, where I coordinated Transmissions, the REP’s young writers’ programme. Since then, I’ve worked with young writers and performers all over the country, including at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Hull Truck, Theatre Royal Plymouth and at the Almeida theatre. I have worked with primary school students in Sutton to develop a jointly written play inspired by The Conference of the Birds, for 2012 Cultural Olympiad, and with GCSE drama students and Senior cizitens in Beckenham on a new play about privacy.

I love working on interesting projects with passionate people. Please email me at ben@ben-musgrave.co.uk for further details, or if you would like to talk about me delivering a workshop, talk, or project.
