The play was performed in the main house of the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, in July 2007, as part of the Manchester International Festival, and was translated into German. Ben was subsequently commissioned by the National Theatre. His commission for Y Touring, BREATHING COUNTRY, in association with the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Wellcome Trust, toured the country in 2009-10, and was shortlisted for the Theatre Centre Brian Way award for the Best New Play for Young People. In 2009, he worked with David Watson and Paula Stanic on a piece for Only Connect \u2013 PANCRAS BOYS CLUB. His play for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, EXAMS ARE GETTING EASIER<em>,<\/em> was performed by the Young REP in April 2010. HIS TEETH, for Only Connect, was performed in October 2011. It was Evening Standard and Time Out Critics\u2019 Choice, and was nominated for an Offwestend.com award for best new play. POLITRIX, for The Big House, was at the Hackney Showrooms in March\/April 2015. ACROSS THE DARK WATER, for The Point in Eastleigh, toured venues on the south coast in July 2015. CRUSHED SHELLS AND MUD, which was developed on attachment at the NT Studio, opened at the Southwark Playhouse in October 2015. He is developing a new play, MAD BEES RIOT IN THE LIGHT, supported by the Arts Council \/ British Council Artists International Development Fund. His play, INDIGO GIANT, originally commissioned by Tara Arts, was produced in Bangladesh in 2022 by Komola Collective, and in the UK in 2024 (where it was nominated for an &#8216;Offie&#8217; Award for &#8216;Best New Play&#8217;. He is currently working with Eastern Angles on a new adaptation of LP Hartley&#8217;s beloved novel THE GO-BETWEEN for the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>TV: He had two series ideas under option to Lime Pictures.<\/p>\n<p>FILM: He is currently developing a script for a film adaptation of CRUSHED SHELLS AND MUD.<\/p>\n<p>AUDIO: THE BRITISH CLUB, was broadcast on BBC R4 in March 2012, THE LAST MISSIONARY OF KANAIPUR was broadcast on BBC R4 in November 2017, VITAL SIGNS was broadcast in January 2022. He is working on a dramatisation of a major title for BBC Radio 4.<\/p>\n<p>He is a lecturer in Scriptwriting at the University of East Anglia.<\/p>\n<p>He has been supported by grants from the Peggy Ramsay Foundation and the Royal Society of Literature.<\/p>\n<p>He is represented by Dan Usztan at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedagents.co.uk\/ben-musgrave\">United Agents<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THEATRE: PRETEND YOU HAVE BIG BUILDINGS won first prize in the inaugural Bruntwood Prize.
